PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to choose a crosshair
you can keep seeing.

A good crosshair is not just visible on one screenshot. It stays readable while the background, movement and visual effects change.

01 / COLOR

Test contrast across several scenes

Cyan and bright green are useful starting points because they often separate from warm walls, shadows and character effects. White can be clean but may disappear against bright sky. There is no universal winner, so switch through every scene above.

02 / GEOMETRY

Adjust length, thickness and gap together

A longer line is easier to reacquire but covers more of the target. A larger gap keeps the center open, while a center dot gives the eye an exact reference. Change one control at a time and check close and distant details.

03 / OUTLINE

Use an outline when backgrounds change quickly

An outline gives a bright crosshair a dark boundary and can preserve its shape over light scenery. If the setup starts to feel heavy, reduce line thickness before removing the outline.

04 / CONSISTENCY

Keep a readable setup long enough to learn it

Frequent changes make it difficult to build a stable visual reference. Once the crosshair survives several backgrounds, save the settings and use them consistently before making another small adjustment.

QUICK ANSWERS

Free custom crosshair
maker questions.

What crosshair color is easiest to see?

There is no universal best color. Cyan and bright green often separate well from warm or dark scenes, while an outline helps when the background changes quickly.

Should I use a center dot?

A dot can make the exact center easier to read, especially with a wider gap. Turn it off when it covers too much of a small target.

Does this custom crosshair maker work on iPhone?

Yes. It works in a mobile browser. The iPhone app adds saved presets, recommendations and a more complete setup workflow.
