Why Your Aim Feels Inconsistent After Changing Settings

The problem is usually the size of the change
Players often change sensitivity, resolution and crosshair at the same time. When aim feels worse, there is no clean way to identify the cause. Change one variable, record it, and give the new setting enough repetitions to become measurable.
Start with physical turning distance
Raw sensitivity numbers are game-specific. cm/360 provides a common physical reference, while eDPI is useful inside one game. Use the sensitivity converter to preserve a known baseline before making smaller adjustments.
Check display timing separately
A higher refresh rate reduces frame time, but it does not automatically fix unstable mouse control. Confirm refresh rate, frame pacing and input settings before interpreting every missed shot as a sensitivity problem.
Keep the crosshair readable
A new resolution can change perceived crosshair size and scene contrast. Test bright, dark and busy areas. The goal is a center point you can reacquire quickly without covering the target.
A repeatable reset routine
- Record DPI, in-game sensitivity, resolution and refresh rate.
- Convert the setup to cm/360.
- Run one reaction test and one 30-second flick session.
- Change one variable only.
- Repeat the same short test before entering ranked play.
